District Works Engineer
The Department of Works of the District Assembly is a merger of the Public Works Department, Department of Feeder Roads, District Water & Sanitation Unit, Department of Rural Housing, and the Works Unit of the Assembly.
The Works Department performs the following key functions:
- Facilitates the implementation of policies on works and reports to the Assembly, providing advice on all related matters.

Oversees the construction, repair, and maintenance of:
- Public roads, including feeder roads.
- Drains along major streets and settlements.
- Public buildings and other facilities within the District.
- Assists in building, equipping, and maintaining markets, and regulates the erection of stores outside designated market areas.
- Inspects projects undertaken by the District Assembly in collaboration with other relevant departments.
- Advises the Assembly on the control of digging, excavation, and burrow pits within the District.
- Maintains all public buildings, including offices, residences, and related structures.
- Advises and encourages owners to remove unsafe or dilapidated structures from public places.
- Ensures proper maintenance of building exteriors, including painting and repairs.
- Removes derelict vehicles or objects that constitute public nuisance.
- Provides technical advice on building designs to ensure safety, accessibility, and fire management preparedness.
