As part of efforts to improve waste management and promote environmental cleanliness nationwide, the government through the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has reintroduced the National Sanitation Day which will be observed on the first Saturday of every month across the country.
It is against this backdrop that, today, October 4, 2025, the Sefwi Akontombra District participated in this maiden National Sanitation Day clean up exercise.
Present at the event were Hon Pious Kwame Nkuah, Member of Parliament for the Sefwi Akontombra Constituency, Hon Joseph Appiah, District Executive, Heads of Departments, Traditional Leaders, National Security Institutions, Staff of various departments and agencies, Civil Society Organizations, and various youth groups.
Addressing the media, Hon Joseph Appiah said this is a new beginning for Akontombra and that similar exercise will be organized across all major towns in the District to make the communities clean.
He further added “We will not let litter and neglect define us. We will work together to build a brighter, cleaner future for all”
